The Finnish company’s Windows Phone, Nokia Lumia 800 has received the latest upgrade of the Windows Phone 7.8 version, now rolling out for installation. If you’re the owner of Lumia 800, you may want to plug your WP handset into the Zune software as there may be a surprise wiating for you in the in the form of much-awaited Windows Phone 7.8 update.
However, all the recent Nokia and Windows Phone discussions may be centered around the Symbian company’s launch of the gorgeous new Lumia range of devices powered by Windows Phone 8 but if you happened to gotten in on the Lumia action during the first wave of releases last year then there could be a nice software related gift pack awaiting for your Lumia 800 handset when it connects to the said utility.
Before you get into the roll out, you have to know about the latest Lumia 505 from Nokia just announced yesterday in Mexico running Windows Phone 7.8 operating system and unveiled as a dudget device. Apart this, those who still make daily use of their Lumia 800 have of course made the conscious decision that the upgrade to the newer Lumia device isn’t on the cards just yet but shouldn’t stop 800 owners from updating the device to Windows Phone 7.8 as it now becomes available through Zune software.
Reports surfaced from the Netherlands via WP7.nl, suggesting that a number of Lumia 800 devices have got the official Windows Phone 7.8 software update sitting and waiting for them when the handset has been plugged into the Zune software on their computers. Obviously in this case with Windows Phone and Android based software updates it of course doesn’t seem to have filtered via all users in all territories just yet but the fact that some users have already able to download and update to 7.8 WP suggests that it will become more widely available in the coming days or so.
Now, we got to know that the Nokia Lumia 800 has started receiving Windows Phone 7.8 upgrade and rolling out, Lumia 800 owners will already be aware that they won’t ever be getting a full update to Microsoft’s new Windows Phone 8 mobile OS meaning that should they wish to go down that route they would need to upgrade or purchase one of Nokia’s new Lumia smartphones. While the filtering through of Windows Phone 7.8 at this point should be more than enough to keep those Lumia 800 users happy for the current timing. What can you expect from the new Windows Phone 7.8 here.
The update consists of four steps and downloaded and installed as a four-part process and contains 4 individual upgrades that will take the device through a number of software revisions before finally setting on the 7.10.8858.136 build. But when you’re all done you will find Windows Phone 7.8 is good to go and will bring with it the ability to resize tiles and new boot screens.
At present it doesn’t seem to be any particular pattern about who will be receiving the update currently so the best part is to connect the device to the Zune desktop software and check if its vailable yet. Do manged to get the update on their device will be able to take full advantage of a set of new boot screens along with being able to dynamically resize the live tiles on the display as well.
