When Samsung released its first Chromebook it was far thin, and light, and powered by a great battery life and this year’s Chromebook 2 shipped with the company’s Exynos 5 Octa chipset, which makes this diferent kind of computer the best.
Introduced with Intel Celeron N2840 Bay Trail processor, the Samsung’s Chromebook 2 is powered by a Intel chipset clocked at 2.58GHz, paired with 2GB of RAM, whereas the models running Samsung’s own chip feature 4GB ROM inside.
It said that Samsung has made some improvements when it comes to the Chromebook 2’s durability and construction, each of the four corners is now reinforced by metal, as are the USB ports, a metal frame behind the display. Measuring at 11.4? x 8.6? x 0.66? and weighs 2.65 pounds, got 16GB of internal storage, and an 11.6-inch display sporting of 1,366 x 768 pixels resolution screen. Connectivity options include Intel HD Graphics, Bluetooth 4.0, WiFi 802.11 ac, a HDMI port, 1 USB 2.0 and 1 USB 3.0 port.
Overall, the Chromebook 2 should be able to endure daily travels and the occasional bump just fine. Point to be noted, its not waterproof or resitant, still go no protections against liquids. But got pretty subpar viewing angles and just doesn’t look as nice as the 1080p screen in the 13-inch, non-Intel model.
Those unfamiliar with Chromebooks, Samsung has partnered Google for a new “Google Hel” app. It’s essentially Amazon Mayday for Chromebooks; hit the button and you’re connected over video chat for support representative at Samsung’s North Carilina operations center. From there onwards, you’ll be able to take control over your screen to show how to accomplish common tasks, chage settings, or fix any problems you might be experiencing.
Unlike Amazon service which is available 24/7, Samsung’s representatives will be available to help the users from Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. PT. In order to enable it, users need to sign up their ChromeBook 2, type “Chrome Help” in the adress bar and dwonload the update. In return, it will bring the Get Help button at the bottom left corner of the Chromebook screen.
Pre-orders for the Intel-powered Chromebook 2 start today and Samsung says it will be widely available through retail channels next week. Final word, it’s not the most powerful Chromebook out there by and stretch, but it’s built to last and runs for up to 9 hours on a charge.
The new Samsung Chromebook 2 priced at $249, pre-orders with an expected shopping next week and as per the listing, the shipping estimates to be 10 to 14 business days.
