LG Electronics came up first with its 3-Dimensional smartphone in the form of Optimus 3D and the HTC been in the market with the similar EVO 3D handsets though, now Nokia and Samsung as reports surfaced plans to join the 3-D trend, as both manufacturers have patented technologies for a new generation of 3D smartphones.
With the auto-stereophonic 3-D displays used in the LG’s Optimus 3D and HTC’s EVO 3D models didn’t captured any desired advantages from the consumers, which didn’t made its position in the smartphone market though. Now the patent application filed by Nokia, the Finnish company is describing a “Dual-mode-two-dimensional & three-dimensional display” type of panels.
The said displays are compatible to work in 2D mode, and switched into a 3DS mode display to show pictures in the same time, each designed to one eye. While Samsung patent application shows up a third Dimention display with similar properties.
According to the reports, The Korean Electronics and Symbian OS manufacturer filed separate patent applications over the U.S, for 3D-related display technology, when compared to Nokia’s and Samsung’s patent, “Samsung with a touch screen panel display compressing a display, a touch screen panel sensor film stacked on top of the screen. Means, a viewing angle difference barrier film stacked between an upper surface of the touch screen panel sensor film and a lower surface of the window and for transmitting light of a pixel corresponding to a left eye and light of a pixel corresponding to a right eye to a left eye and a right eye, respectively“.
Though it would not change customers to grab, either its a new 3D product created by Samsung or Nokia, and which would not revolutionize the 3D smartphone market share.
