Steps to Create an Ad Hoc Network in Windows 7 to Share Internet :
Step 1: Initially, go to Search Box of Search menu and type “Wireless”. Of the list displayed, select “Manage Wireless Networks“. Now a windows pops up.
Step 2: In the window, navigate to “Add” button and click it.
Step 3: Now, click on option called “Create an Ad Hoc Network“.
Step 4: A window appears with a message about setting up an Ad Hoc Network. Click on “Next” in this window.
Step 5: Now, a window appeaars asking you to enter network name, security type and the security key. To use this network again, check the “Save Network” option. Then wait the network to be created. Now, a message is received showing that the network has been successfully and ready to use.
Now verify the Ad Hoc Network by clicking on the wireless icon on the task bar.Here you see the name of network along with a message “Waiting for Users“.
On the clients computer, click on wireless icon. Here you can see the name of the network along with an option “Connect“. Just click on it to connect to the network. Now your Ad Hoc Network has been established and capable of transferring and sharing files. But, to share your internet connection with other wireless devices go to host’s wireless adapter icon. Right click on it and go to Properties-> Sharing. Here select “Allow other network users to connect through this computer’s internet connection”.
