iOS 6.0.1 For iPhone, iPad, iPod touch Currently In Testing; iOS 6.1 Seeded After Christmas Holidays

It has a month ago when it released a couple of days before the iPhone 5, iOS 6 has seen its clear share from tech related enthusiasts and been upgraded by the general consumers as quickly as they can compare it with Android camp where users have to wait months for their smartphone manufacturers to be updated to the latest version of Android, like the 4.0 ICS and 4.1 Jelly Bean, which took, and taking long time to get an upgrade.

Honestly, now there are millions of users posing with the major software, but the bound to be bugs discovered that were caught while the operating system was in alpha or beta testing. These bugs can be fixed in a major update to iOS 6 in the form of iOS 6.0.1 in the “coming weeks“. Check this out for full details after the jump.

About the latest iOS 6.0.1 version comes from the folks over at BGR who cite “one of their Apple sources” who claims that Apple has started testing the minor iOS 6 update across multiple wireless carriers in the US. The source also given an unconfirmed changelog of iOS 6.0.1 firmware.

Big Boss Genius says, iOS 6.0.1 will fix the horizontal lines on keyboard bug (discovered on iPhone 5), Passbook-related bugs, an Exchange invite group bug and a camera flash-related bug. The performance improvement include improved Wi-Fi, the new software will improve Wi-Fi support, fix cellular data not working in some cases, add a consolidated cellular data switch for iTunes Match, fix a bug that allowed access to Passbook pass details from the lock screen and tested with reliable mobile internet data connectivity.

In fact, it says it could be only a bug-fixer and performance improvement update, and the case in minor upgrade, there’s no “new features” to discuss about.

So, the iOS 6.1 would be the major update to iOS 6 – is now being tested within Apple. Which means that the updated iOS will likely not be available in time for the media event tomorrow, and we can expect that the upcoming iPad Mini will be running the same old iOS 6 IPSW in it.

Being an iPhone 4S / 4 owner, I still prefer using the iOS 5 or 5.1 or 5.1.1 rather than iOS 6, because they has untethered jailbreak, and natively runs Google Maps and other best tweaks from Cydia as well.

The Apple event which is set to kick off today and the Cupertino company is fully expecting to announce the iPad Mini along with 13-inch Retina MacBook Pro, updated Mac mini and iMac. Stay tuned so that we can cover all the new gadgets and their features for you on time.
