It was a good news for every jailbreaker and unlocker who were waiting to enjoy the untether Jailbroken device on the latest firmware, but before you install some third party and Cydia tweaks, it’s very important to save your iOS 5.1.1 SHSH blobs right now, before Apple stop signing the firmware.
I am an iPhone 4 users and i have already saved all the previous version IPSW’s such as iOS 5.0, 5.1, 5.0.1 and now i have jailbroken 5.1.1 untethered and also saved SHSH blobs for that too, which is a good step to achieve the iOS SHSH blobs for safekeeping, it will help you downgrading at sometime in the coming future. Downgrade is only possible when you have the earlier blobs saved, and if you haven’t done it, you’ll never be able to downgrade to that firmware version and for your sake you’ll be stucked on the current firm version which can’t be jailbroken anyway.
While you can see your first port of call can be checked through Cydia, which has the measures in place to automatically save 5.1.1 blobs. If you have a already jailbroken iOS 5.1.1 devices, you will see “SHSH: iOS 5.1.1” on Cydia’s homepage, like shown in the picture below, or you if haven’t seen no sign, then you have TinyUmbrella to use for backup your blobs though.
It’s still very important even though you have any intention to update to a future version until any jailbreak is released, better save the SHSH blobs. Any reason Apple may turn its next firmware update with several restrictions, or might turns out to be filled with bugs. We highly recommend to save them before all these goes wrong with your device.
The most popular TinyUmbrella, iSHSHit 1.1.0 are also compatible with iOS 5.1.1, and can provide yet another best way to save your blobs, like iFaith. Utilizing both of then can protect your from the future upgrade, sort it!
Especially for those using the new iPad, which got its first jailbreak exploit available for the high-profile Retina Display device. It’s very useful to back it up with saved blobs if you own one of them.
