The latest and the smallest iPad Mini has been unveiled by Apple at its special media event in San Jose in California. Phil Schiller taking the stage and explains about it ” isn’t just a shrunken-down iPad, it’s an entirely new design”. Sporing with the 7.9-inch iPad mini has a 1024 x 768, like the earlier-generation 9.7-inch iPad models, encased in an all-new 7.2mm-thick aluminum shell, which makes it 53 percent lighter and significantly thinner than the 4th generation iPad. Coming straight to the point; the iPad mini gets its name from its noticeably smaller display which is 7.9″. Its resolution matches that of the iPad 2, at 1024 x 768 pixels density of 163ppi which, by current standard. Comparing the iPad mini against the Nexus 7, Phil points out that Apple’s tablet is lighter and thinner than Google’s slate in spite of having a display area that’s a third larger. The Nexus 7 also has a bigger, plastic bezel around its screen whereas the iPad mini’s bezel is made out of aluminum. The 30-pin connector is a long gone story and the iPad mini comes with Apple’s brand-new Lightning connector which made its debut with the iPhone 5, fifth-gen iPod touch and the seventh-gen iPod nano.

More off the iPad mini comes with a dual-core Apple A5 chip, LTE and poses with a 5-megapixel iSight camera, WiFi at 802.11n, the new Lightning dock connector, and said as 10 battery life backup. Phil, as he introduces the price: three storage configurations – 16GB ($329) / 32GB ($429) / 64GB ($529) – and two configurations based on connectivity – Wi-Fi only and LTE (add $130). When compared to more expensive Android-based tablets that start at $159 / $199. This price tag for the iPad 2 mini is lower than the revised second-generation iPad wcich cost $399. You’ll be able to pre-order the iPad mini in black or white from this Friday, October 26th, and Apple will ship out its new tablet on November 2nd.
